CodeSignal's Brand Guide
Introduction
Our brand identity reflects who we are today and where we are headed. It brings together the elements that make our brand clear, consistent, and inspiring. These guidelines show what makes CodeSignal distinctive and how our identity comes to life across every touchpoint.
Brand identity
Our brand identity defines the core of who we are. It starts with our mission and is shaped by the attributes that guide how we look, sound, and act. Together, these elements set the foundation for how CodeSignal shows up in the world and how we connect with our audience.
Our mission is to...
discover and develop the skills that will shape the future.

Clever
We are intelligent, skilled, bright, and fun. We strategically craft our work with subject-matter expertise and spirit.
Visual identity
CodeSignal’s visual identity is made up of key assets like our logos, colors, typography, graphic devices, photography, icons, and our mascot Cosmo. Think of these elements as a toolbox. When used consistently, they give us the flexibility to create work that is both distinctive and unified. This toolbox helps bring our brand to life in ways that are creative and connected.
Logos & symbol
Our logo captures the essence of our brand and the optimistic future set before us. Our symbol boldly represents the signal as a sharp, hero-like emblem with proud wings of victory. It represents the power of sending and receiving a strong signal. When writing out our name, we set our name in a titlecase format which puts emphasis at the beginning of each syllable and helps ensure proper annunciation.
NOTE: The logos seen in this guide are the only approved logos for the CodeSignal brand. Do not create alternate logos.
Primary logo
Secondary logo
Symbol
Horizontal logo (Primary)
Our horizontal logo is the primary identifier to be used across our brand. It’s often best used justified left, right or center within a design.
Vertical logo (Secondary)
Our vertical logo is the secondary identifier to be used across our brand, in instances when our horizontal logo won’t work. It’s often best used justified center within a design.
Symbol
Our symbol is the most recognizable element of the CodeSignal brand. It acts as our hero emblem, representing strength, clarity, and forward momentum. Use it as a signature across brand applications when a full logo isn’t needed. Our symbol should always appear true to the brand, serving as a clear signal of who we are.
Do's & don'ts
Please follow these important design rules when using the CodeSignal logo.
- Do ensure the logo aligns well and feels evenly weighted.
- Do set our name in a titlecase format, when writing out our name.
- Do ensure the integrity and equity of our logos remain intact.
- Do reach out to the CodeSignal Brand Studio with any questions!
Do not stretch, skew, or manipulate the logo. Scale the logo down appropriately.
Do not use colors outside of files provided. Contrast ratio aids accessibility.
Do not alter the iconmark or wordmark in anyway. Keep the logo’s structure intact.
Do not alter or use any other font weights, cases, or typefaces.
Do not apply dropshadows to any part of the logo, iconmark, or wordmark.
Do not apply strokes or outlines to any part of the logo, iconmark, or wordmark.
Do not apply blur to any part of the logo. Ensure readability at all times.
Do not use dark logo on a dark background or light logo on a light background.
Do not use the wordmark alone without the iconmark, unless Brand Studio approved.
Clear space
Always leave enough space around our logos so they stand out. The clear space should be free of any other elements, making sure the logo stays easy to see and uncluttered. A good rules of thumb for our logo is to use the height of the “o” in CodeSignal. For our symbol, use the inner height of the hero wings.
Co-branding
Co-branding showcases CodeSignal alongside a partner brand. To keep both identities clear and balanced, always use the approved lockup format. This ensures consistency and readability across every collaboration.
Do not use our secondary stacked logo option.
Do not use anything except the single vertical line divider.
Do not reposition or redesign co-branding lockup.
Do not use product logos or branding in co-branding lockups.
Color Palette
Primary Colors
Our primary color palette represents the foundation of our brand and should be used consistently across all materials. These colors anchor our visual identity and reinforce recognition. Blue is at the core of who we are. When brand presence or instant recognition is important, ensure the primary palette is visible.

Tints & Shades
Tints and shades extend the full palette to create depth, hierarchy, and accessibility. Every tint and shade should reinforce the overall hierarchy defined by the primary colors.

Typography
Primary type
Founders Grotesk is our primary typeface. Its clean, modern style reflects the clarity and strength of our brand. Use it across headlines, subheads, and larger body text to create a bold and consistent presence. Pairing different weights helps establish hierarchy and tone. Usually, we stick with medium weight for headlines.
NOTE: If you are not an authorized designer please use Work Sans.

Typography scale
Our type scale creates consistency and readability across all materials. Use size and weight variations to build hierarchy and guide the reader’s eye. A good rule of thumb is to adhere to the 8 pixel grid system, choosing sizes that are mostly divisible by 8.
Graphic devices
Graphic devices bring energy and structure to our brand. They are built from simple shapes and lines that reflect our identity, and they can be used to highlight ideas or add rhythm to a layout. Use them thoughtfully, designs should always feel open and uncluttered. When combining multiple devices, pay attention to pacing so the design stays balanced.
Always use colors from our palette. Devices can be applied as they are, or adapted to fit new contexts, as long as they stay true to the brand.

Brand photography
Photography helps our brand feel human and relatable. Our photography style captures people in real moments. We show individuals and groups working together, learning, and creating in natural settings. Expressions should feel genuine, confident, and approachable, not staged.
Keep backgrounds simple so the focus stays on the people. Whenever possible, choose photos that reflect our brand colors to help connect visuals back to the rest of our identity. This approach keeps our brand warm, human, and relatable.
Iconography
Icons should always be used with purpose. They are best for supporting a specific idea, action, or piece of information. Icons work well when paired with text and should make communication easier to understand.
Use only the icons from our official library to keep the style consistent. Do not bring in outside styles, since our icon set already reflects the personality and tone of the brand.
Cosmo
Cosmo is our mascot, a friendly space corgi who represents the approachable and playful side of CodeSignal. He helps bring warmth and character to our brand, making it feel welcoming and memorable.
Use Cosmo to add personality to designs, while making sure he supports the overall message rather than distracting from it. Many poses and expressions are available, giving you flexibility while keeping the brand consistent.
Verbal identity
Our verbal identity defines how we speak and write as a brand. It includes our messaging, tagline, boilerplate, and headlines, all working together to create a clear and consistent voice. The way we communicate should reflect our mission and connect with people in an authentic way.
