Start your programming journey with Python. Write and run programs, work with values and variables, gather input, calculate and compare data, and build decisions and repetition with conditions and loops. By the end, you’ll create clear, interactive Python programs.
Every program begins with getting a computer to do something you can see. You'll write and run real Python code inside the editor, display messages on screen, annotate your work with comments so it stays readable, get comfortable with the plain numbers and text that programs handle every single day, and finish by using Python as a calculator to evaluate arithmetic on the spot.
Programs get useful once they can remember information. Here you'll store values inside variables, give those variables clear names, use them in calculations and messages, update them as a program runs, and convert between text and numbers so the data you work with is ready for the task at hand.
Stored values only matter once you can combine and compare them. You'll calculate with Python's arithmetic operators, assemble readable messages from variables and text, put those skills together to solve real formula-based problems, and then evaluate comparisons and logical conditions that produce the true-or-false answers programs rely on to make decisions later.
Real programs make choices instead of running the same way every time. You'll build branching logic with if, else, and elif, use flowcharts to visualize possible paths, let Boolean values drive decisions, and avoid common mistakes with overlapping conditions and indentation. Repeating work with loops builds on these skills and is covered in the next course path.
