Take a look at a Ted Talk by Eduardo Briceno on mindset: The Power of belief -- mindset and success | Eduardo Briceno | TEDxManhattanBeach .

To foster growth, it's important to first understand the characteristics of a fixed mindset. Individuals with a fixed mindset believe their abilities and intelligence are static. They avoid challenges, view criticism as a personal attack, and often feel envy or disdain towards others' success. For example, someone might think, "I'm just not good at math," or "I'd rather not try if I'm going to fail." Recognizing these patterns in yourself or your team is the first step in promoting a growth-oriented environment.

Adopting a growth mindset offers numerous advantages. It enhances resilience, as challenges are seen as opportunities for growth. This mindset boosts motivation and effort since there's a belief that abilities can be developed with dedication. Enhanced learning and creativity come naturally with statements like, "What can I learn from this feedback?" Moreover, a growth mindset fosters improved collaboration, as celebrating others' successes becomes an inspiration rather than a source of envy. These positive changes lead to better individual performance and stronger team dynamics.

• Jake: I'm feeling really down after the feedback on my last project. I don't think I'm cut out for this.
• Natalie: I understand it's tough, Jake, but remember, feedback is a chance to grow. How about we look at what we can learn from this?
• Jake: I guess you're right. I just always feel like I should get it right the first time.
• Natalie: None of us get everything right the first time. Your effort shows you're dedicated. Let's focus on improving together.

In this dialogue, notice how Natalie helps Jake reframe his perspective from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. She emphasizes learning from feedback and values effort and improvement, encouraging resilience and motivation.
